Psychotherapy Explained

Psychotherapy is often categorized as “talk-based” therapy, with the aim of improving a client’s mental health and wellness. People seek psychotherapy for a variety of reasons, which may include but is not limited to: life transitions, high stress, emotional distress, professional concerns, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties etc. Some people may experience a general sense of “stuck-ness” in their lives. Psychotherapy is designed to create a safe and confidential space for clients to explore their difficulties, build awareness and facilitate positive change.

What to expect:

Our Registered Psychotherapist is a trained health care professional and regulated member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

The first therapy session is tailored towards gathering information about you and understanding your reason for seeking therapy. After this process, you and the therapist collaboratively work towards creating a shared treatment goal and plan.

The psychotherapy service offered utilizes an integrated approach, moving away from the idea of “one size fits all”. This approach primarily pulls interventions from humanistic, cognitive behavioural, systemic and collaborative therapies.
